Alleged Sexual Assailant Arrested

This past Saturday morning, a man allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in front of the Chapel Watch condominiums on Church St. and then assaulted another woman immediately afterwards on 8th Street. The police were immediately summoned to the scene and the man, Christopher Tabb, was caught and thrown in jail. Great work by the Central Division CMPD 1st shift in making the arrest and getting this man behind bars. Mr. Tabb is currently being held on bond with 4 misdemeanor counts and a felony charge of 2nd degree rape by force.

The Jail website shows that he is still in jail under a $37,000 secured bond. Chances are he will not be able to make that as it would cost at least $3700 in bondsman's fees, plus the collateral. He has his First appearance Tuesday 10-2 and his Bond Hearing will be set then. The judge is highly unlikely to change his bond Tuesday. The Bond Hearing will be attended by FOFW reps to make FOFW's input known. In reviewing unofficial sources, it appears that someone with a strikingly similar name, demographics and DOB has priors convictions for Misdemeanor Trespass, Larceny (twice), Public masturbation, Indecent Exposure (twice, the most recent being last month), and was on probation for Felony Common Law Robbery. He was violated on his probation some time ago and did time in prison (which takes him off probation supervision) and was released this past May. Given this record, judges are not likely to be lowering his bond anytime soon.
